The Wild Pooka Poitín (70cl)

Traditional Irish poitín required great skill on the part of the poitín maker as the processes of fermentation and conventional distillation produced a lot of chemicals other than alcohol. Some of these were downright nasty with unpleasant tastes and side effects.

Here at Mourne Dew we have perfected our cold distillation processes such that we can remove those unpleasant chemicals at the final distillation stage, giving us a finished spirit rich in the flavours of the malted barley used to make it. Unlike our other poitíns we do not expose it to wood but leave it clear and strong with a delicious malted barley flavour coming through. It is superb on its own or suitable for incorporation in a wide range of cocktails such as our ‘Wild Ride’ cocktail described above.

With an ABV of 60% it needs to be treated with a lot of respect! It is due for release in Summer 2024.
